Kattappana: Former Electricity Minister M.M Mani, known for his fiery speeches, has sparked a new controversy with a disparaging remark targetting Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
Speaking at the LDF public meeting here, Udumbanchola MLA dubbed Khan a 'Nari' (stinker) for refusing to consent to the Land Assignment (Amendment) Bill passed by the state assembly.
The CPM leader passed the remark while criticizing the decision to invite Khan to a district-level meeting of Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi in Idukki.
Mani is irked by the fact that Khan will be attending the function on the same day the LDF Idukki District Committee is observing a protest march to Raj Bhavan.
"The governor is after us. He refuses to sign bills passed by the legislature. Haven't you all elected the members of the assembly? The bills were passed by these legislators. I believe it is disrespectful to invite a 'Nari' who refuses to sign bills to the function," he said.
