Thrissur: Minister R Bindu was a bit late to arrive for the programme organised for raising funds for the kidney transplantation of a Kombukuzhal (a wind instrument) artist Vanneriparambil Vivek (27). Surprising all, the minister removed her gold bangle and handed it over to the organisers of the programme for helping the youth.

She took the step after hearing about Vivek’s plight. The minister returned only after consoling Vivek’s brother Vishnu Prabhakar and wishing Vivek a quick recovery.

The programme was held at the premises of Moorkkanad Gramin library in Karuvannoor. The bangle was handed over to committee convener PK Manu Mohan, ward councillor Naseema Kunjumon, and library secretary Saji Erattuparambil. The committee was formed for raising funds for the kidney transplantation surgery of Vivek.

Vivek's parents Prabhakaran and Saraswathi are also suffering from chronic diseases. Vivek was looking after his family by engaging in many other jobs other than playing Kombukuzhal.
