Thiruvananthapuram: It is likely that the minimum wage of state government employees will be fixed between Rs 23,000 and Rs 25,000 and the maximum pay Rs 1.4 lakh. The 11th Pay Commission will submit the report within days. The finance department is trying to issue the order of pay revision by February 15.
Currently, the basic pay is Rs 16,500 and maximum pay is Rs 1.2 lakh. The service associations were demanding that the minimum wage should be determined at Rs 25,000. When the maximum pay reaches Rs 1.4 lakh, the maximum pension amount will be Rs 70,000.
The commission is likely to recommend a huge hike for those who receive low salary and a marginal hike for those who get high salary. Though the pay commission recommended 12 percent increase, this will be revised considering the financial status of the government.
The state government and the pay commission have made an agreement that the financial liability of the government should not go beyond 10 percent when the salary and the pension are increased.
