Thiruvananthapuram: The miniature train at the Veli Tourist Village experienced a minor derailment after hitting a stone, causing it to tilt slightly off the track. The train did not overturn, averting a major accident. At the time of the incident, there were around 48 passengers in the train, including children and women. Some of them were injured in the mishap.

The accident happened while the train was on its way to the coastal area of Pozhikara. A few people got off the train as the accident happened. Later on, people, including officials at the tourist village, rushed to the spot and rescued the rest of the passengers. 

The railway track extends from the tourist village to the coastal area covering a distance of over 2.5 kilometres. Post the accident, a technical team arrived at the spot for repair works.
