Class 8 student Midhun’s final rites today in Kollam after electrocution tragedy. KSEB begins action; police probe ongoing

Kochi: Midhun, the eighth-grade student who died after being electrocuted at Thevalakkara Boys High School in Kollam, will be laid to rest by Saturday noon. His mother, Suja, who was in Turkey at the time of the incident, arrived at Kochi International Airport this morning by an IndiGo flight that landed at 9 am.
The body will be brought from Sasthamkotta Taluk Hospital to the school by 10 am where classmates, teachers, and residents will pay their final respects. The body will be taken to the family’s home in Vilandhara, Sasthamkotta by noon. The funeral will take place in the house compound at 5 pm.
Meanwhile, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has agreed to remove the overhead power lines that caused the tragedy. The decision was taken during a meeting held in the presence of the Chairman of the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Midhun lost his life after coming in contact with a live wire running above a bicycle shed that had been constructed in violation of safety norms.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death, and an investigation is underway, led by the Sasthamkotta Deputy Superintendent of Police.
