
Thiruvananthapuram: The Vembayam local committee of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) here witnessed mass resignation on Tuesday. It is reported that 49 CPM activists including the DYFI unit committee members joined BJP. The DYFI activists left the party at Vazhottupoyka in Vembayam.
BJP state president K Surendran received the 49 new members to the party at a function held at Vazhottupoyka on Tuesday.
DYFI Vazhottupoyka unit secretary, joint secretary, vice president, treasurer, other members and their family members joined the BJP.
Addressing the new members, BJP state president K Surendran stated that CPM has been attacking the people who opposed them. He declared that BJP will protect the members who left CPM.
At the same time, BJP has not given any party posts to the new members of the local committee.
BJP district leadership clarified that the party is trying to bring in more members from CPM in areas which are affected by CPM-BJP conflicts.
