Kozhikode: The second edition of the Mathrubhumi-India's VKC Kozhikode Marathon, which has become a major celebration for the city, will be held on January 10, 2027.

The marathon date was announced at a ceremony held near the Kozhikode Beach Open Stage on Saturday morning. Minister Ramesh Chennithala officially announced the date of the upcoming edition.

Minister A. P. Anil Kumar unveiled the logo of the marathon. Registrations for various categories were also formally opened during the event, followed by a community walk.

This year's marathon will also carry a strong anti-drug message, expressing solidarity with the government's campaign against substance abuse, Operation Toofan. The message for the 2027 edition is: "Say No to Drugs, Go for Running, Run Toofan."

The launch of corporate registrations was also held during the ceremony, with Minister O. J. Janeesh handing over the registration to V. K. C. Mammed Koya.

Among those who attended the event were ministers P. C. Vishnunath and T. Siddique, along with Bindhu Krishna, N. Samsudheen, M. Liju and O. J. Janeesh.

Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Editor P. V. Chandran, Managing Director M. V. Shreyams Kumar and Joint Managing Editor P. V. Nidheesh were also present.

Kozhikode Mayor O. Sadasivam and MLAs K. Praveen Kumar, K. Jayanth and Vidya Balakrishnan were among the other dignitaries who attended the programme.

India's VKC is the title sponsor of the marathon. Lulu Mall Kozhikode is the mall partner, KVR Hyundai is the riding partner, while Adaminte Chayakkada has joined as the dining partner.

With registrations for different categories now open, the second edition of the Mathrubhumi-India's VKC Kozhikode Marathon is set to bring runners and the wider community together in Kozhikode on January 10, 2027.
