Kottayam: A massive fire broke out in a building on the premises of Kottayam Medical College on Monday afternoon. The fire engulfed an under-construction building.

It is suspected that an electrical short circuit might have caused the fire. Fire force units  managed to douse the fire.

The building is opposite to the cancer ward. Patients in all wards of the hospital were evacuated. 35 workers were present in the building when the fire broke out.  No casualties were reported.
