Manjeri: Mohandas (40 years), a resident of Kizhisseri and dance teacher by profession has been sentenced to 40 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) by a POSCO Fast Track court for raping and impregnating a minor student. He has to pay a fine of Rs 4,10,000 to the victim as well.

The incident pertaining to the case happened in March, 2014.  The culprit sexually exploited his minor student multiple times at his dance center in a rented quarters. The 17-year-old girl was later found out to be pregnant, after she was admitted to hospital feeling discomfort. Later on, the Kondotty police registered a case against the dance teacher.

Mohandas was arrested in January 2015. A DNA test had proved that he was the biological father of the newborn baby delivered by the victim. The culprit was sent to Thavanur central jail. Advocate A Somasundaran appeared for prosecution. .
