Kuttippuram: A man was killed and his wife severely injured after a car rammed into a scooter on the Tirur road near Manjadi on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Khadar (48) from Puthanathani.

The accident happened when a Toyota Innova MPV was trying to overtake another vehicle. Abdul Khadar, who was riding the scooter, died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Rukhiya (40) sustained serious injuries after getting thrown away by the force of impact. The couple was returning after attending a relative's marriage in Kuttippuram.

The scooter was severely damaged after it crashed into a nearby wall. Meanwhile, the car overturned after moving a few metres and crashed into a wall.
