Kalamassery: A man was attacked by an Indian python while cutting grass in Kangarappady, Kochi. The victim has been identified as Santhosh, a native of Kalamassery. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam.

The incident took place while Santhosh was cutting grass in the yard of Kangarappady native Reji Varghese on Friday around 9.30 am. Suddenly, the python wrapped around his left leg and squeezed him.

Santhosh, who fell down on the ground, somehow managed to escape by pulling the tail of the snake. However, he suffered two fractures and muscle bruises on his leg.

Later, snake rescuer Roopesh Anjumana was informed and brought to catch the reptile. However, it was nowhere to be found in the yard. It is learnt that this is the fifth python spotted in the region within a year.
