Kochi, Kerala: A young woman in Angamaly, Ernakulam district, has alleged that she was brutally assaulted by her husband over the birth of their baby girl.
According to her complaint, the incident happened on the 28th day after the child’s birth, when the husband allegedly dragged her off the bed and struck her head.
The woman and her family have said they will pursue legal action against her husband, who they described as superstitious. The Angamaly police have registered a case based on her complaint.
The couple had married in 2020, and the child was born the following year. The woman alleges that her husband subjected her to severe cruelty following the birth and continued to harass her repeatedly in the name of the child. She also claimed that he destroyed several mobile phones provided by her family to prevent her from contacting them.
The victim said she could not even share details of the abuse with her family. During one incident, the husband allegedly told hospital authorities that she was injured after hitting her head on a wall during a seizure.
