Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress worker Fenni Ninan on Tuesday rejected claims linking him to the latest sexual assault complaint against suspended Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. He said the accusation was politically motivated and aimed at influencing developments in the case.

The complaint submitted to the Congress leadership alleges sexual assault under the pretext of a false marriage. The complainant reportedly said that Rahul arrived to meet her accompanied by Fenni Ninan.

What is Fenni Ninan’s explanation?

Fenni said he had expected political attacks as elections approached, but not “in such a cruel manner.”

“I do not know the complainant. But I am fully aware that no such incident has taken place. Everything written in the complaint is a blatant lie,” he said.

Fenni argued that his name was deliberately inserted into the complaint.

“The allegation against me is something I cannot even imagine. Earlier too, different accusations were written and circulated through the media to insult me. But have they ever produced even one piece of evidence?” he asked.

He added that similar personal attacks had surfaced during previous election cycles.

Why does he call it a conspiracy?

“This is part of a big conspiracy. These allegations are being raised again as part of a criminal conspiracy during elections. No such incident happened. If there was even a shred of conscience, that woman would not have written such a complaint,” he said.

Fenni also pointed out that the allegation surfaced a day before the court is scheduled to consider Rahul’s bail plea.

“On what basis are they telling such lies? Rahul’s bail plea is to be considered tomorrow. Is this move meant to get the plea rejected?” he said.

What steps is Fenni planning?

Fenni said he has filed a complaint with the DGP regarding the allegation.

He added that he will pursue legal action against both the complainant and the media report that published the accusation.
