Kannur: In a groundbreaking development, couples wishing to register their marriages no longer need to wait at the Panchayat office or undergo long procedures in Kerala. Thanks to the K-Smart app, they can now complete the registration process from anywhere in the world. Even if the bride and groom are in different locations, there are no issues. The entire process can be completed in just ten minutes with simple steps, making it a lot more convenient.

The first couple to register their marriage through this online system, which uses video KYC for the process, are Vaishnav from Pinarayi and Aswathi from Kalliasseri. They registered their marriage at the Panchayat, making them the first couple to do so in the state.

The wedding took place on April 6th. On Thursday, a ceremony was held at the Uday Palace Convention Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, where Minister M.B. Rajesh participated alongside the newlyweds. The marriage registration certificate, completed through the online process, was handed over to the couple by the minister during the event.

Vaishnav and Aswathi learned about the new marriage registration software developed by the Information Kerala Mission company through their friends K. Varun and P. Shwetha. After discovering the new facility, they decided to register their marriage using the new system. The couple became the first to register their marriage under this new initiative at the Panchayat level. As a result, their marriage is now the first of its kind at the village panchayat level in the state. Similar systems had already been implemented in municipalities and corporations earlier.
