Vadakara: A Malayali entrepreneur has achieved a major milestone in the artificial intelligence startup sector, with his company, SuperManager AGI, set to be acquired by a leading US firm for ₹50 crore. The acquisition is expected to be completed within a month.

Nirmal Nambiar, a native of Orkkatteri in Kerala's Kozhikode district, co-founded the startup with Aditya Sharma, from Uttarakhand. Speaking to Mathrubhumi, Nirmal said the company reached the milestone just 15 months after beginning operations.

SuperManager AGI develops AI agents that help multinational companies streamline project management and execution. The startup was previously known as Oqlous AI.

While its headquarters are in Chandigarh, the company also operates an office in Bengaluru. The acquiring company is among the top 100 companies (Fortune 100) in the United States, according to the report.

Nirmal is the son of Nisha, of K.K. Nivas in Madhathil, Orkkatteri, and the late R. Sreejan, who was a Deputy Commandant.

After completing a degree in Computer Science Engineering at IIT Dharwad, he joined Microsoft as a Product Manager with an annual salary of ₹65 lakh. He later resigned from the role to launch Oqlous AI with his IIT batchmate, Aditya Sharma.

The US company has reportedly offered to retain Nirmal, Aditya Sharma and the startup's 20 employees following the acquisition. However, Nirmal has informed the company that he does not agree with the arrangement.
