Police have registered a case against Malayalam actor Vinayakan after he allegedly shared an eight-year-old girl's photograph and her father's phone number on Facebook without consent.

Malayalam actor Vinayakan has been booked by Kerala Police for allegedly publishing the photograph of an eight-year-old girl on social media without permission. The case was registered by Mavelikara police in Alappuzha district after the girl's father approached the Kerala State Commission for Child Rights, which directed authorities to take action.
According to the FIR, the incident dates back to July 23, 2025, when the complainant allegedly forwarded a Facebook post critical of Vinayakan to the actor via WhatsApp.
Police claim that, in response, Vinayakan took screenshots of the WhatsApp chat and the complainant's profile picture, which featured his eight-year-old daughter.
The actor is accused of posting the screenshots, along with the complainant's mobile phone number, on his verified Facebook account without consent.
The FIR alleges that the post was widely shared by others, leading to abusive comments targeting the complainant and his family.
It also claims that several people mistook the shared number for Vinayakan's and called the complainant, subjecting him to verbal abuse, causing mental distress and reputational harm to the family.
Police have registered the case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act and the Kerala Police Act, including charges related to defamation and invasion of privacy.
Officials said the investigation is underway and Vinayakan's statement will be recorded. The actor has previously faced multiple cases related to alleged defamation and public nuisance.
