Malappuram (Kerala): In a tragic incident, a woman and her two children were found dead in a pond in Malappuram on Sunday, police confirmed. The deceased have been identified as Sainaba (45), her son Muhammad Ashique (22), and her daughter Fasila Fathima (18), all residents of Parappur.
According to authorities, the family had gone to a pond near the Thazhekkattupadi Panchayat office in the afternoon to wash clothes. Around 4 pm, a resident spotted a body floating in the pond.
During the initial investigation, police recovered three pairs of sandals and washed clothes near the pond. A subsequent search led to the discovery of the two other bodies.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation into the circumstances. Officials noted that the family often visited the pond to wash clothes, and a detailed probe is underway to determine the cause of the deaths.
The bodies are expected to be handed over to relatives after post-mortem examinations are completed.
