Bengaluru: A family of three was found dead at a resort in the Kodagu district of Karnataka. The family, said to be Malayalis, were found dead on Saturday morning. The preliminary conclusion is that the couple committed suicide after killing their 11-year-old daughter.

The deceased have been identified as Vinod Babusenan (43), wife Jibi Abraham (38) and daughter Jane Maria Jacob (11) from Kollam. The police said that they found a suicide note stating that financial distress led them take the extreme step. The couple was running a business in Kollam, police said.

The family arrived at the resort around 6 PM on Friday. After resting for a while, they came out and walked around. The resort manager Anand said that the family seemed happy. When the family did not come out even after the check out time on Saturday, one of the staff went and knocked on the door. Half an hour later, they knocked again but there was no answer. Becoming suspicious, they looked through the window and saw the couple hanging, police said. 

The resort staff notified the police immediately. Police said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and the relatives have been contacted. The police have also registered a case and started investigation.
