Pathanamthitta (Kerala): Renjitha Pulickan, a Mahila Congress district secretary from Pathanamthitta, was arrested on Friday for allegedly revealing the identity of a rape survivor. The complaint had led to the arrest of Congress-expelled MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, police said.

The Pathanamthitta Cyber Police took Pulickan into custody for allegedly posting the victim's identity in connection with the third rape case registered against Mamkootathil.

A case had been registered based on information from the Cyber Operations Wing against individuals who recently disclosed the survivor's identity online.

Pulickan currently serves as the Pathanamthitta district secretary of the Mahila Congress. It is alleged that Pulickan acted as a Mamkootathil apologist, posting content on social media in support of the MLA while discrediting the survivor.

Arrest after tracing to Kottayam

As Pulickan could not initially be contacted, police traced her to a relative’s house in Kottayam. She was arrested there and brought to Pathanamthitta.

Police noted that Pulickan had previously faced allegations for revealing a victim's identity in the first rape case against Mamkootathil, when she had publicly supported the MLA and discredited the complainant.

In the earlier case, a Thiruvananthapuram sessions court had granted her anticipatory bail.

Following the third complaint against Mamkootathil, Pulickan again allegedly posted derogatory content about the survivor online, prompting renewed legal action. Police said two cases without bail have been registered against her in connection with these incidents.
