Kochi: Maharaja's college, which was closed indefinitely due to conflict between student organisations, will reopen on Wednesday. The decision was taken in a discussion held with the college authorities, police, and representatives of student organisations.

The college is opening with restrictions due to the risk of further conflict. The college gate will be closed at 6 PM. There will be a police presence on the college premises for a few days.

The college and the hostel were closed indefinitely last Thursday following a clash among KSU, Fraternity Movement activists, and SFI activists in which one student was stabbed.

The atmosphere in the college has been tense for some time now. The situation escalated as the SFI unit secretary Abdul Nasser was hacked in the wee hours of last Thursday. Even after reaching the hospital with the injured, both sides clashed. A case has been registered against more than 30 students for their involvement in the same.
