Kasaragod: A special investigation team is interrogating Manjeshwaram MLA M. C. Kamaruddin in connection with the Fashion Gold deposit case.
The allegation relates to swindling over Rs 150 crore from around 800 investors. Over 20 cases have been registered against Kamaruddin in Uduma and Kasaragod. As the investors realised that they will not get the money back, they filed complaints. Meanwhile, the special investigation team took charge of the case.
The probe team has collected the statements of over 80 people. The other day, the probe team had questioned Pookoya Thangal and Kallatra Mayin Haji, who was appointed as the mediator in the issue by the Muslim League. Following this, the investigation team is questioning the MLA.
Earlier, Kallatra Mayin Haji had informed the Muslim League leadership that it was unlikely that Kamaruddin would be able to repay the investors. Following this, the IUML took a stance that the MLA himself will bear the consequences.
