Thrissur: Kerala Excise Minister MB Rajesh on Saturday assured stringent action into the incident wherein a beauty parlour owner, Sheela Sunny, was arrested and jailed for 72 days in a false LSD stamp case in Chalakudy here. The official who arrested Sheela has been transferred on the basis of an excise vigilance probe report into the case, the minister said.

“The government has taken the issue seriously. The excise vigilance had earlier carried out a probe in this regard. Now, a probe by the excise crime branch is underway. Action will be taken against the wrongdoers,” he added.

“If the excise department receives any information, then they have to carry out investigation. Anti-drug enforcement activities led by the excise department are underway across the state. If someone attempts to misuse it for their vested interests, then action will be taken without fail,” Rajesh said.

Sheela Sunny (51), owner of 'She Style' beauty parlour in Chalakudy, was arrested on February 27 for allegedly possessing 12 LSD stamps worth Rs 60,000.

The excise officials then maintained that Sheela Sunny has been involved in illicit drug business under the pretext of running the parlour. In a raid that followed, excise officials found 12 LSD stamps hidden inside her scooter and bag.

However, it later came to light that the seized stamps were mere papers. Sheela was granted bail by the high court on May 10 after being jailed for 72 days in Viyyur Jail.
