Thiruvananthapuram: There has been a sharp fall in complaints submitted to Kerala Lok Ayukta in the past five years. This came to light in the response given by the Chief Minister in the Kerala Assembly when questioned about the number of cases reaching Lokayukta and the number of cases that have been resolved between 2018-2022. The question was raised by Congress legislator T Siddique.

Lokayukta is a mechanism for investigating allegations of corruption and malfeasance against public servants and the redressal of public grievances. The present Lokayukta was appointed in February 2019 and has a tenure of five years.
Lokayukta Justice Cyriac Joseph, Upa Lokayukta Justice Babu Mathew P Joseph’s tenure will end in February 2024. The other Upa Lokayukta, Justice Harun Ul Rashid has two more years in term.
