Thiruvananthapuram: The tenure of the current administrative committees of Local Self Governments in the state will come to an end on Wednesday. The administration will now be helmed by officers appointed by the government and they will remain in charge until the new administrative committee takes over. They only have the power to make decisions regarding every day activities and other essential activities. They will also be in charge of COVID prevention activities.

The election commission has stated that the new elected committees will take charge before Christmas. The election was delayed in 2010 due to the cases regarding voters list and in 2015 regarding ward division. In both the cases, officers were handed over administration charges for a fixed period of time.

  • District panchayat: Collector, District Panchayat Secretary, Poverty Alleviation Project Director
  • Block Panchayat: Secretary, Assistant Executive Engineer, Agricultural Depart Assistant Director
  • Gram Panchayat: Secretary, Assistant Engineer, Agricultural Officer
  • Corporation: Collector, Corporation Secretary, Engineer
  • Municipality: Council Secretary, Engineer, Officer who is in charge of Integrated Child Development Scheme
