Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Geevarghese Mar Coorilos, former Metropolitan of the Niranam Diocese of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church, has expressed his support for rapper Vedan, who was arrested the other day. The bishop shared his views through a Facebook post.
“In this country, not only people, but even animals and their body parts are subjected to caste. I stand with Vedan’s ‘politics of blackness’ and against drug abuse. Let Vedan’s cultural revolution against ‘white gods’ continue,” wrote Dr Coorilos.
Meanwhile, rapper Vedan, whose real name is Hirandas Murali (30), has been remanded to the custody of the Forest Department in connection with a case involving possession of a leopard tooth. The department sought custody to collect evidence and conduct further investigation, and the court granted two days of custody.
