The Left alliance, comprising AISA, SFI and DSF, swept all four key posts in the JNUSU elections, with Aditi Mishra elected president and Malayali student Gopika Babu winning the vice president’s post with a strong majority.

New Delhi: The Left alliance has secured a sweeping victory in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections, winning all four key posts on the central panel with a clear margin.
The coalition, comprising the All India Students’ Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and Democratic Students’ Federation (DSF), emerged victorious across the board.
Malayali student Gopika Babu, hailing from Irinjalakuda in Thrissur, Kerala, was elected vice president with a substantial majority.
Aditi Mishra of the Left alliance was elected president with 1,747 votes, while Sunil Yadav won the general secretary’s post, securing 1,915 votes. His closest rival, Rajeshwar Kant Dubey of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), received 1,841 votes.
Polling was held on Tuesday with a voter turnout of 67 per cent, and counting began later that night.
