Mumbai: Leela Krishnan Nair was a humble person who always acted as a pillar of support for her spouse. She stood by her husband Captain Krishnan Nair when he quit military service and entered business. Since then, the couple have been together in all phases of his growth as an entrepreneur.

Leela Krishnan Nair, 90, wife of late C P Krishnan Nair, who was the founder of The Leela Group, passed away on Sunday.

Krishnan Nair used to say that there is a woman behind the success of every man's success. Leela used to motivate him saying he would find a way to improve whenever he launched a new venture. He started his business from the hotel Leela Palace. He started all his ventures in his wife's name. He had such great respect and love for her.

Captain Krishnan Nair married Leela in 1950 when he was in army. When they checked horoscope, the astrologer reportedly said that Leela will bring fortune to her husband just like she did to her own family after her birth.

Krishnan Nair even titled his autobiography 'Krishna Leela' in order to pay respect to her. He opened up in his autobiography that his family background was very different from that of Leela, who was daughter of business tycoon AK Nair.

Krishnan Nair had said that Leela's advices have helped him a great deal to overcome the crises in the business. He had also said that he had never said 'no' to her ever in her life. She accompanied him whereever he travelled and while receiving eminent personalities.

Captain Krishnan Nair breathed his last on May 17, 2014. After his demise, Leela has been staying with their children in the residence at Andheri. Her demise also came one day before his death anniversary.
