Kochi: The Kerala High Court has issued a stay order on 'Lambda pollution testing', which was earlier made mandatory for BS6 and BS4 vehicles by the central government. The stay order was issued following a petition filed in the HC claiming that the machines used for pollution test were of cheaper quality and the results were inaccurate.

Following this, HC asked the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and the National Informatics Centre to temporarily revamp the website of 'Vahan-Parivahan' and halt the process of Lambda testing. 

Central Government made Lambda testing mandatory for BS6 vehicles last December. Later, the same was made mandatory for BS4 vehicles. 

However, the pollution centres in state are not equipped with devices to conduct the testing.
