Mukkam: Kozhikode NIT professor Shaija Andavan who had posted a comment on social media hailing Godse issued her statements to the police. A team of Kunnamanagalm police had arrived at her residence in Chathamangalam to record her statements.
Investigation officer in charge Kunnamangalam Inspector S Sreekumar told the media that the professor has confessed to having made the comment on social media all by herself. She has been apparently asked to report to the Kunnamangalam police station for interrogation.
Meanwhile, Facebook has so far not responded to the notice issued to it by the investigating team for providing the URL-IP details of all the users who have commented under the particular photo of Godse.
Shaija Andavan had stopped going to the NIT campus after her comment became controversial. Police had found it difficult to contact her in order to issue her a notice. The professor has so far not submitted an official leave application to the campus authorities.
On the day of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi earlier this year, Shaija made a pro-Godse comment on Facebook under a post by a user named Krishnaraj. She deleted the comment after protests erupted over it. Later on, a case was registered against her on the basis of a complaint filed by the SFI Kunnamangalam area committee. Shaija had been absconding ever since the incident.
