Adoor (Pathanamthitta, Kerala): An elderly woman who had reportedly come to beg at the KSRTC bus stand in Adoor was allegedly assaulted by a KSRTC employee on Monday morning.
The woman, believed to be from outside Kerala, had arrived at the bus stand along with an elderly visually impaired man. Allegations have been raised against R. Venu, a KSRTC employee who was reportedly on security duty at the time of the incident.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around 7 am at the Adoor KSRTC bus stand.
The elderly man and woman had reportedly come to the premises seeking alms. During this time, R. Venu allegedly beat them with a stick and chased them out of the bus stand.
The man accompanying the woman is said to be visually impaired.

Woman admitted to hospital
The elderly woman who was allegedly assaulted sought treatment at the government-run Adoor Taluk Hospital.
The incident has sparked protests and criticism, with demands for action against the employee from various quarters.
The controversy comes on the same day that KSRTC launched the Priyadarshini scheme, fulfilling an election campaign promise made by the newly elected UDF government. The scheme provides free travel on state-run buses for women and transgender persons.
