The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Thursday (August 6) launched an AI-powered WhatsApp ticketing system, marking the next phase of its digital transformation to make ticket bookings faster and simpler for passengers.

The new service was inaugurated by the State Transport Minister CP John at a function that also featured the launch of several initiatives aimed at improving passenger services and operational efficiency.

During the event, the minister presented awards to KSRTC employees recognised for outstanding performance at the state level. The best-performing KSRTC unit in the state was also honoured.

How the WhatsApp ticketing system works

Passengers can book tickets by sending a message to WhatsApp number 9447071021. The service eliminates the need to install the KSRTC app or any other ticketing application.

Users simply need to provide their date of travel, boarding point and destination. The system then displays the buses available on the selected route and date. Passengers can choose a service that suits their preferred travel time and complete the booking directly through WhatsApp.

Customer care helpline and courier service unveiled

The Transport Minister also inaugurated KSRTC's 24x7 customer care toll-free service, accessible through helpline number 149, and launched the corporation's revamped courier service.

Transport Secretary T.V. Anupama IAS delivered the welcome address, while Health and Devaswom Minister K. Muralidharan presided over the function. The KSRTC Chairman and Managing Director presented a report on the corporation's ongoing projects and key initiatives.
