Thiruvananthapuram: The altercation between KSRTC driver Yadhu and Mayor Arya Rajendran led to the suspension of the driver by the KSRTC authorities. Yadhu has also been instructed to appear before the District Transport Officer (DTO).
The incident occurred on Saturday night at 9:45 pm near Plamoodu, Thiruvananthapuram, where a verbal argument ensued between the mayor and the driver.
The dispute reportedly arose when the KSRTC bus, driven by Yadhu, failed to yield space (for overtaking) to the private vehicle carrying Mayor Arya Rajendran and her husband, MLA Sachin Dev. Mayor Arya Rajendran had filed a complaint with the police on Saturday night itself, alleging dangerous driving by the bus and accusing the driver of making obscene gestures.
The police registered a case against the driver based on the mayor's complaint. However, Yadhu claims that he was unaware of Mayor Arya Rajendran's identity and argued with her. He also alleged verbal abuse from their end. According to Yadhu's account, the altercation occurred due to lack of space for overtaking on the one-way road at PMG.
