Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s K-Smart mobile application has transformed the registration process, simplifying access to government services. Launched on January 1, 2024, K-Smart, developed by the Information Kerala Mission, has processed 22.8 lakh files, contributing to ₹1,759 crore in revenue.
The platform, currently operational in corporations and municipalities, allows individuals to complete processes such as marriage registrations through remote video-KYC, enabling couples abroad or with international travel to register without visiting an office. Kerala remains the only state in India to offer such a facility.
Efficient and streamlined governance
As of December 30, 2024, K-Smart has managed a total of 27.7 lakh files, with 82.31% processed. The app integrates various modules to ensure citizens are informed about required documents beforehand, easing the workload for both applicants and government employees. Minister M.B. Rajesh commended the system’s role in improving file processing speed and overall governance.
Extended services starting April
In April 2025, K-Smart will extend its services to the three-tier panchayat system, further streamlining services at the grassroots level.
