Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Dr Thomas Isaac said that about 45 lakh Kudumbashree and Ayalkoottam members will be added in the Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) Micro Chit Funds for buying laptop and tablet for students. The Kudumbashree members can join the chit fund worth Rs 15,000 at a monthly subscription of Rs 500.

After the third instalment is paid, the members will get laptop. Those who never default repaying 10, 20, and 30 instalments, KSFE will pay one instalment for each time. If they regularly pay the instalments, they have to repay only Rs 13,500 and can save Rs 1500. They need not provide any special surety.

The monthly instalment of Rs 500 can be repaid in daily, weekly or monthly instalments. The Kudumbashrees and CDS which pay the instalments regularly will get 2 percent of the amount as commission. Laptops will be given by the institutions empanelled by the State IT department.

The members who do not require laptop also can join the chit. They can apply for the amount after the 13th instalment. Those who apply for the money after 13th instalment will get Rs 15,408, after 25th instalment will get Rs 16,777 and after completing the chit will get Rs 16,922, the minister said.

KSFE and Matsyafed will jointly make arrangements for online classes in the public places. If the local bodies find a public place for studying, KSFE will provide Rs 10,000 for installing television. More details will be available at the KSFE branch in the area, the minister informed.
