Kozhikode: Security personnel were brutally attacked by a group of men at Govt Medical College here on Wednesday. A complaint has been lodged citing that a person accompanied by a gang unleashed the attack by targeting the security staff.
According to reports, a ruckus broke out after a security guard denied permission to a couple, who reached the hospital to meet the superintendent. Later, the man alleged that the security guard had indecently behaved with his wife. A ruckus broke out after the man summoned his friends and attacked the security staff at the hospital.
Security staff Vineshan, Sreelesh and Raveendra Panicker were injured in the attack and admitted to the same hospital. The CCTV visuals of the attack have surfaced.
The onlookers alleged that some of the assaulters had covered their faces with masks and helmets. A journalist, Shamsuddin, who attempted to capture the visuals was also attacked. Medical College police have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the hospital staff.
Meanwhile, the woman who had accompanied the assaulter has also filed a complaint against the security guard. She accused the staff of grasping her hand. Police informed that they would investigate both cases along with the case related to the attack on the journalist.
