Kozhikode ICU abuse case: Suspended staff accused of intimidating survivor reinstated at same hospital under court order.

Kozhikode: Staff members previously suspended and transferred for allegedly intimidating the survivor in the Kozhikode Medical College ICU abuse case have been reinstated at the same institution, following a court directive.
Grade I Assistants Asiya and Shiny, Grade II Attenders Shaima and Shanuja, and Nursing Assistant Praseetha were earlier suspended and reassigned to other medical colleges—Shaima, Shanuja and Praseetha to Thrissur; Shiny and Asiya to Kottayam. They have now been reappointed across Kozhikode MCH, IMCH and Institute of Chest Diseases, despite allegations that no vacancies were available at these facilities.
The original complaint alleged that the survivor—a young woman recovering from thyroid surgery—was sexually assaulted by hospital staff member M M Saseendran. It was further claimed that some colleagues attempted to shield the accused by coercing the survivor into retracting her statement under CrPC Section 164, and pressuring her to accept compensation and settle the case. The survivor had submitted a written complaint to the Medical College Superintendent, prompting departmental action.
