New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed the petitions filed by the Kottiyoor rape case accused Robin Vadakkumchery and the survivor seeking bail to marry each other.

The court stated that the petitioners can approach the high court to decide on the marriage, while rejecting the petitions.

Earlier, the Kerala government had opposed the bail plea of Robin Vadakkumchery in the Supreme Court. Robin Vadakkumchery requested a short term bail to marry the rape survivor. Later, the woman also filed a plea requesting the same.

Though the government did not oppose the plea seeking permission to marry, Adv Harin P Raval who represented the state in the case requested the court not to grant bail to Robin Vadakkumchery.

The rape survivor moved the court stating that it is necessary to marry Robin Vadakkumchery as she has to record his name as father in the school records of her son.
