Kottiyoor: ‘Ilaneer Veppu’, the prime ritual of Vysakha festival and ‘Thiruvona Aradhana’ in Kottiyoor will be held on Saturday. Hundreds of groups will arrive at the temple complex with ‘Ilaneer Kavu’ as part of ‘Ilaneer Veppu’.   

The materials for ‘Abhisheka’ carried from Kottayam Kovilakom, ‘Panchagavya’ bought in procession from the Koroth Nair ancestral house will be received by Thedan Warrior from the banks of Bavali river. It will be taken to the shrine on the eastern banks of the river (‘Akkare Kottiyoor’).  

Following the ‘Aradhana puja’ a grand procession (‘Seeveli’) with the accompaniment of musical instruments will be held here. ‘Bhandara Ezhunnellippu’ will follow the ‘Seeveli’. Later, ‘Ilaneer Veppu’ will commence at night. 

‘Ilaneerattam’ and ‘Ashtami Aradhana’ will take place on Sunday. The construction of the temporary shrine at the eastern Kottiyoor began on Thursday.
