Union Minister Suresh Gopi accompanies Amrita, wife of late Congress leader K P Unnikrishnan, for Kottiyoor Darshan after she previously missed out due to heavy crowds.

Kottiyoor (Kerala): Union Minister Suresh Gopi has paved the way for the wife of a former Union Minister to offer prayers to the deity Kottiyoor Perumal, after she previously had to return without completing the Darshan due to heavy crowds at Akkare Kottiyoor. Suresh Gopi brought along Amritha, wife of the late Congress leader and former Union Minister K P Unnikrishnan, during his visit to offer prayers at Akkare Kottiyoor.
Amritha had initially visited Kottiyoor last Sunday to offer prayers. However, despite waiting for hours, she had to return without completing the Darshan due to the massive rush of devotees.
As part of a nationwide outreach programme marking the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi government, Suresh Gopi had recently visited the residence of the late former Union Minister K P Unnikrishnan in Panniyankara. When Amrita shared her grief with Suresh Gopi about not being able to complete her Darshan despite visiting Kottiyoor, he decided to bring her along on his subsequent trip to the shrine. Amritha told Mathrubhumi that she was able to have a very fulfilling Darshan.
Suresh Gopi, accompanied by Amritha, visited Kottiyoor to offer prayers on Thursday morning.
