KSEB restored electricity to a Kottayam patient on oxygen following a Mathrubhumi report and public intervention.

Thalayolaparambu(Kottayam): The public came to help Rameshan, 53, after he struggled to breathe when electricity to his home was cut off by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). Rameshan relies on a medical device to assist his breathing due to a lung condition.
The electricity was disconnected after he was unable to pay a bill of Rs. 6,027, leaving him in severe distress. Following coverage in 'Mathrubhumi', KSEB employees restored the electricity on Friday morning.
Assistant Engineer TA Arun said the staff had initially decided to pay the bill themselves to restore the connection. However, an anonymous individual settled the payment online before they could act.
After reading the news report, the Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, HH Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, also intervened. He had planned to pay the electricity bill, but since it had already been settled, he instead offered support for Rameshan’s other needs. The Supreme Head decided to cover the outstanding fees for his sixth-grade daughter’s school transport for the current academic year. The assistance will be provided through the church’s charitable initiative, the 'Sahodaran Project'.
Rameshan’s wife, Shaila, expressed gratitude for the support, thanking everyone who helped the family during the crisis.
