Ettumanoor: Kottayam crime branch CI G Gopakumar has been booked for creating ruckus in a hotel. The Ettumanoor police have registered a case against the police office for non bailable offence, under IPC 354 and SC ST Act.

The incident pertaining to the case happened in ‘Thara’ hotel at Central Junction around 10:30 PM on August 8. Tensions erupted between the CI and the hotel employees, when the former demanded the employees to serve food to him in quick time. But, the hotel employees had already informed the police officer of the delay in serving food owing to the unprecedented rush in the restaurant during that time. However, the cop wasn't patient enough and instead started threatening the employees demanding them to show the  licence and health card of the restaurant.

The miffed officer also started filming visuals of the hotel kitchen and also the visuals of the customers who were present in the hotel at that time. One of the families questioned the uncivilised act of the police officer, further escalating the tension. Meanwhile, a history-sheeter named Jis also got involved in the tussle.

The situation had been pacified by the time police arrived at the spot. Based on the complaints lodged by the parties involved, the police launched a detailed investigation into the incident after inspecting the CCTV visuals. CI Gopakumar was found instigating the violence. The family involved in the ordeal had also appeared before the investigating officers to issue their statements the other day. Jis has been named as the second accused in the case. Meanwhile, CI Gopakumar also lodged a complaint in the incident.
