Kottayam: As many as 15 people have allegedly suffered from food poisoning after consuming Kuzhimanthi from a restaurant in Kanjirappally here. The affected individuals had eaten the dish from an outlet named Faaz, located at the 26 Mile area.

They were initially admitted to Kanjirappally General Hospital and later shifted to various private hospitals for further treatment.

Following the complaints, both the panchayat authorities and the Health Department conducted an inspection at the restaurant. The inspection revealed that the establishment was functioning in unhygienic conditions and that staff were working without valid health cards. Authorities have since ordered the temporary closure of the restaurant.
