Traffic restrictions will be in effect across Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram on November 3 and 4 for Vice President CP Radhakrishnan’s visit. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.

Kollam: Traffic restrictions will be in place in Kollam city from 12 p.m. to 6 pm on Monday in view of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan’s visit. Authorities have urged people travelling between Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha to use the bypass road.
Vehicles entering the city from Thiruvananthapuram should take the railway overbridge via SN College Junction and proceed through Kochupilammood, Beach Road, Vady, and Vellayittambalam to reach the Altharamoodu bypass. Those coming from Alappuzha should turn at Altharamoodu and travel via Vellayittambalam, Vady, Beach Road, Kochupilammood ROB, and SN College.
Motorists entering Kollam from Anchalummood should turn right at Kadavoor Junction, take the Kureepuzha Bridge to the national highway via Altharamoodu, and reach the city through Vellayittambalam and Beach Road. Vehicles leaving the city for Anchalummood should travel through High School Junction, Vellayittambalam, and Altharamoodu, then turn right to proceed via Kureepuzha Bridge and Kadavoor.
During the restriction period, traffic and parking will be prohibited on Asramam, Chinnakada, Railway Station, Chemmanmukku, Taluk, High School Junction, Thevally, and Kadavoor roads. Passengers heading to Kollam railway station should use the second terminal on the Kollam–Shenkottai Road.
Tight security has been arranged under the supervision of the City Police Commissioner, with 500 police personnel, including five SPs, 12 DySPs, 35 inspectors, and several women officers, deployed across the city. A review meeting was held at the Parish Hall near Fatima Mata National College on Sunday morning, followed by two trial runs.
The Vice President is scheduled to arrive at Asramam Maidan from Thiruvananthapuram in an Air Force aircraft at 2.30 pm, accompanied by the Governor and other dignitaries. His motorcade will proceed via Chinnakada and Railway Station Road.
CP Radhakrishnan will attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of Fatima Mata National College and later meet representatives of the Coir Export Association at Raviz Hotel, Thevally. Parking will be banned along all major routes until his departure.
Twenty-six schools, including those near Fatima Mata National College and in the Thevally area, will remain closed after Monday afternoon. City Police Chief Kiran Narayanan has declared Kollam East, West, and Anchalummood police station limits as drone-free zones until Tuesday.
Traffic restrictions in Thiruvananthapuram
Traffic restrictions will also be enforced in the state capital in connection with the Vice President’s visit. The curbs will be in place from 11 am to 6 pm on November 3 and from 8 am to 5:30 pm on November 4.
On November 3 and 4, restrictions will apply along the Shankumugham–Valiyathura–Ponnara–Kallummoodu –Eanchakkal–Ananthapuri Hospital–Mithranandapuram–SP Fort–Sreekanteswaram Park–Thakaraparambu Flyover–Choorakattupalayam–Thampanoor Flyover–Thycaud–Vazhuthacaud–Vellayambalam–Kowdiar stretch.
On November 4, additional restrictions will be imposed on the Vellayambalam–Kowdiar–Kuravankonam–Marappalam–Pattom–Pottakkuzhi–Murinjapalam–Kumarapuram–Medical College Flyover– Sree Chitra Road route.
