Thalassery: Kodi Suni, key accused in more than one political murder case in Kerala, appeared before the Thalassery Additional Sessions Court via video conference on Monday. The court is hearing a 2010 double murder case involving two BJP-RSS workers, in which Suni is an accused.

Kodi Suni, who is currently lodged in Kannur Central Jail for violating parole in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, was not physically brought to court.

Along with co-accused Mohammed Shafi and K Shinoj, Suni was presented to the court through video call due to a disciplinary incident. The accused were found drunk while under the supervision of three police officers, who were later suspended. As a result, the court decided to conduct the hearing remotely for security and procedural reasons.

2010 BJP-RSS double murder

The case dates back to 28 May 2010, when BJP-RSS workers Vijith (28) and Shinoj (29) were murdered. The two victims were returning from a court appearance in Mahe when their motorcycle was intercepted at Peringadi Road. Attackers allegedly threw a bomb and assaulted the victims.

There are multiple accused in this politically sensitive case, most of whom are said to be CPM supporters. The final arguments are currently being heard by Judge Ruby K Jose at Thalassery Additional Sessions Court (Three). P. Premarajan is appearing as the Special Public Prosecutor.
