Kochi City Police impose traffic restrictions today for PM Modi’s visit. Check timings, diversions, and parking arrangements across the city.

Ernakulam: The Kochi City Police have announced strict traffic regulations on Wednesday in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The measures affect three major VVIP routes across the city and aim to ensure smooth movement during the Prime Minister’s official engagements.
Route 1: Naval Base to Marine Drive
Traffic will be restricted between Naval Base and Marine Drive from 12:00 noon to 12:30 pm, with diversions in effect from 11:00 am onwards.
- Private and KSRTC buses from Fort Kochi and Mattancherry heading to Ernakulam, Kakkanad, or Aluva will be rerouted via BOT East Junction to Kundannur. Buses from Ernakulam, Kakkanad, and Aluva will be diverted at Edappally.
- Light motor vehicles from Fort Kochi will be diverted at BOT West towards Thevara Ferry, Mattammal, Panampilly Nagar South, Manorama Junction, and Edappally. Vehicles from Bolgatty Junction will take the route via Chathyath Junction, Pachalam, Pachalam Overbridge, Pottakkuzhy, Mamangalam, and Edappally.
- Vehicles travelling from High Court Junction to Fort Kochi will follow Madhava Pharmacy Junction, DCC Junction, Iyyattil Junction, Chittoor Road, Valanjambalam, the Manorama U-turn, and Panampilly Nagar.

Route 2: Marine Drive to JLN Stadium, Kaloor
Traffic will be restricted between Marine Drive and JLN Stadium, Kaloor, from 12:50 pm to 1:20 pm. Vehicles travelling from Aluva to High Court Junction will be rerouted via Edappally–Mamangalam–Pottakkuzhy–Pachalam Overbridge–Chathiyath.
Restrictions and parking arrangements
Restrictions will be in effect from 3:05 pm to 3:30 pm. Dedicated parking has been arranged for vehicles coming from Thrissur, Vypeen, and Paravur at Bolgatty Water Metro premises, Vallarpadom Basilica Ground, and LNG Terminal premises.
Vehicles arriving from Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha, and Fort Kochi can park at Durbar Hall Ground, Maharaja’s College Ground, Ernakulathappan Temple Ground, and the premises of Ayyappankavu Temple.

Heavy vehicle restrictions
The Kochi City Police have confirmed that heavy vehicles have not been permitted to enter the city since 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, and the restriction will remain in place until the completion of the Prime Minister’s visit.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and allow extra travel time during the VVIP movement.
