
Kochi: The Motor Vehicles Department's enforcement wing has taken action against college students, involved in a dangerous stunt during Christmas celebrations. The incident, which has sparked widespread criticism, occurred at MES College at Vazhakulam in Perumbavoor, where students were seen climbing onto vehicles and performing risky acts as part of the festivities.
Videos of the stunt, involving vehicles such as a Mahindra Thar and a Bolero, quickly circulated on social media, drawing the attention of authorities. The visuals showed students standing and dancing on the roofs of moving vehicles, raising serious concerns about road safety and the violation of traffic regulations.
Following the incident, the Motor Vehicles Department identified the vehicles and their owners, initiating strict enforcement measures. Officials stated that such stunts not only endanger the participants, but also pose risks to other road users.
Concerns were raised over the lack of supervision by the college atuthorities and the growing trend of risky behaviour among students during celebrations.
As the investigation continues, the MVD has urged educational institutions to take responsibility and ensure that safety protocols are followed during events. Penalties, including fines and possible suspension of driving licences, are being considered for those involved in the incident.
