Thiruvananthapuram: The opposition has issued a breach of privilege notice against finance minister Thomas Isaac alleging that he leaked the CAG report before it was tabled in Assembly. VD Satheeshan MLA has handed over the notice to the Legislative Assembly speaker.
The finance minister leaked the report, which should have been kept confidentially, to the media. He also took part in media discussions held in connection with this. This is a serious violation of guidelines and an invasion into the special rights of the Legislative Assembly, the opposition alleged.
The CAG report should be kept secretly. It should be submitted before the Governor and then, the finance minister should table it at the Assembly with the Governor’s permission. The opposition also pointed out that the minister was obliged to keep the details as a secret until it was presented at the Assembly.
The finance minister had held the press conference the other day and pointed out the details mentioned in the draft report. He was responding to the remarks made against KIIFB in the report.
