Thiruvananthapuram: Following the shift in the state's political landscape, KIIFB Chief Executive Officer K M Abraham has tendered his resignation. Abraham submitted his formal resignation letter to the caretaker Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, in the wake of the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) defeat in the recent Assembly elections. Mini Antony, the current Additional CEO, has been appointed to take over his responsibilities.

The resignation comes at a time of uncertainty regarding the future of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) under the newly elected United Democratic Front (UDF) administration. Throughout the election campaign, UDF leadership repeatedly levelled allegations against the KIIFB management, including claims of fund diversion. Abraham himself faced personal criticism from the Opposition, who accused him of acting as a "Super Chief Secretary”.

Future of projects in limbo

Currently, KIIFB is overseeing infrastructure projects worth over ₹1 lakh crore. With the transition of power, the future of these ongoing initiatives remains unclear. The incoming UDF government will be required to clarify its stance on whether it intends to continue with the current KIIFB model or implement a policy shift regarding the board's existence and operations.
