Thiruvananthapuram: Bevco recorded an all-time high liquor sales for Onam. In the 10 days of the Onam season, liquor worth a total of ₹826 crore was sold through shops and warehouses. This is ₹50 crore more than last year. During last Onam, liquor sales had touched ₹776 crore.

On Uthradam day alone (Day before Onam), liquor worth ₹137 crore was sold in Kerala— a 9.21% increase compared to last year. On Uthradam day of the previous year, the sales stood at ₹126 crore.

Six outlets registered sales above ₹1 crore on Uthradam day, three of them in Kollam district. The Karunagappally outlet under Kollam warehouse topped the list with sales of ₹1.46 crore. At the Kavanad (Ashramam) outlet under Kollam warehouse, sales reached ₹1.24 crore, while the Idappal Kuttippala outlet under Perinthalmanna warehouse clocked ₹1.11 crore. The Chalakudy outlet sold liquor worth ₹1.07 crore, the Irinjalakuda outlet ₹1.03 crore, and the Kundara outlet ₹1 crore on Uthradam day.
