Delhi: Associate professor of IIT Delhi, Divya Dwivedi, extended her wholehearted support to Anupama Chandran in her protest against authorities over the illegal adoption of her child.

Citing the achievements made by Kerala in the modern cultural context, Divya pointed out her disappointment in witnessing such a “chimera” taking place in Kerala. “I am astonished that these legal and institutional steps through which the child was stolen could be conducted with such ease. I'm worried about a certain birth of a chimaera taking place in Kerala,” she said. 

Earlier, Anupama has also levelled allegations against the police and the child welfare committee for conspiring and illegal adoption of her child. She also accused her parents of illegally handing over the child to the authorities without her knowledge.

“My tears were for the extreme sorrow that you are undergoing as a mother separated from her child; for your child who must suffer the trauma of these events in life eventually; the blindness to the liberty of a woman,  for women’s rights, are human rights; and, I seriously worry for a state (the ‘enlightened literate literary Kerala’) which existed for me, never as an idyll, but as a unique promise given by a kind of providence,” Divya Dwivedi said in a letter to Anupama.

She also added that the constitutional provisions, international conventions and jurisprudential considerations support Anupama. 

Anupama also demanded removal of the chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee N Sunandha and General Secretary of the Child Welfare Council JS Shiju Khan till the investigation into the adoption case is completed.

Meanwhile, CWC has ordered the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare (KSCCW) to bring the baby back within 5 days.
